Why shouldn’t a dog wear high heels?
Maybe not to dance in – I don’t expect miracles.
But just slip them on for a quick photo shoot is all I’m asking.
This was, as it turns out, a bit much to ask.
Apparently, dogs don’t like high heels.
No matter the lively color.
They try out their oh-poor-me-I’m-being-forced-to-wear-fashionable-footwear face.
Which is surprisingly well-prepared.
Then look away, as though they’re trying to block out the horror.
Just a bit dramatic, don’t you think?
Still, at some point you’re then forced to consider…
Maybe some dogs were just meant for flats.
But that leads to the eternal question.
Do brown shoes go with black fur?
Other eternal questions include just how exciting is the Giants winning the Pennant?
And can a beagle ever truly lie on its back on a doghouse?

this made me LOL. your dog has good taste in footwear… i kind of want those red shoes.
Not a bad choice in the end.
Stylish… yet functional.
Black & brown? A little fashion forward. I like it
Dogs can be so annoyingly sensible sometimes. Ugh.
I know, right?
They just need to learn to live in the moment like us!
Well, obviously, you need to get some red flats!
This was hilarious – I love the photos!
Haha I love this. I have blogged about my dogs before…but they are nudists. Shocking, I know.
Your dog is adorable. I agree with Mommie Dearest… red flats would be ideal
this brought a smile, and I think dogs should get to do whatever they want, they give us so much love
This is AWESOME! I laughed out loud at the end. Yes, dogs should prefer flats. They just look classier when someone already has long legs lol :0)
You’ll have a lot of explaining to do if you’ve suddenly undone all those years of training for him to leave shoes ALONE.
I’m with the pup, here. High heels are NOT for me. However, the flats are fashionable AND functional. Good choice, pooch, good choice.
I vote for a really nice pair of boots.
I am suck a sucker for a dog in red high heels.
I had a dog once that did like high heels. But then he also liked Judy Garland.
That dog is a damn good sport! You can tell that s/he is not digging the forced fashion.
Awwww, what a cutie.
Speaking from experience, Beagles can lie down, in any position, in any location.
My dog LOVES my purse. It’s HIS PURSE. Rue the day I put the purse on the floor, cause he snuggles as much of his 90# body on it as possible.
I want to get some heels and see if my dog will wear them. They’ll go with his purse, after all.
Love your sense of humour, and love your dog. Apart from the colour (mine was a yellow) he’s the image of my old dog, sadly no longer with me. The facial expressions on your, sorry, his pictures are superb.
Maybe he just doesn’t like polka dots.
Or he is jealous of the cat bowl.
Hmmmm…..
I never even considered that – obviously he’s jealous!
I miss Monroe. And you. So much.
I love the lining on those red shoes
Hahaha!! You are a nut! I think that brown flats go excellent with the black fur. The red heels are just asking too much!
I think Monroe would look dashing in a set (I almost wrote pair, but he’d need 4!) of red rain boots!
Now that would be an amazing look – I wonder where we could find those?
Lol! Love this post. And Monroe really needs to learn that the red looks amazing with the black fur.
I know, right?
How will he ever become the doggy fashionista I know he is inside?
At least he didn’t eat them!
You speak of baseball. This is my love language.
The dog and the shoes? Funny indeed.
Personally I thought the red shoes were a more fashionable choice – colour blocking you see, with contrast against black fur. However I am very much of the belief that black and brown work excellently together, so I also approve of the flats.
I have no comment on baseball, I can talk about cricket or AFL (Australian Football League – best looking footballers on earth, google if you don’t believe me, oh those gorgeous arms) at length though.
But I can say while I don’t know if a beagle would do it my schnauzer used to regularly lie on her back on her kennel. It does have a large flat top like a table, but the intention is the same don’t you think?
one word…aspca! well, that acronym has more than one word, but you get my meaning! i got my eye on you and that poor defenseless puppy. =o)
I don’t blame the dog. I hate heels too.
Dogs can be so practical at times.
Your dog is a natural in front of the camera
I’m a flats girl too
Your dog is more photogenic than I though!
With my one getting her to look at me while holding the camera is totally impossible. It’s as if she’s saying ‘side, man, THE SIDE FACE’
I find that my dog prefers strappy sandals. Pumps aren’t for everyone, you know.
The shoes really bring out his eyes.
My dog loves heels….as a side dish to any meal he eats. Surprisingly he is still allowed to live in my house.
Ha Ha Love your blog Megan & am RSSing you. Your posts are hilarious. I think the brown flats are a more conservative look for
your dogthe dog you are sitting. Perhaps the red heels would more suit a Dalmatian being fire engine red & all that…Ooh, now I need to steal a Dalmatian! Good plan.
