Fake Mustaches and Forever Memories

A 1940s couple captured in crisp black and white – the woman wearing a hat with moxie, the man in an ironed sailor’s uniform, both laughing and kissing in a series of small photos.

That’s the image my mind conjures when it hears photo booth.

Now add a ribbon backdrop and fake facial hair and that’s what Kelly had at her wedding.

There was a camera and lighting set up, so all guests had to do was push the button on the remote.

Showing Kelly has faith in her guests’ intelligence, there were no instructions provided.

In my case, that was slightly unfortunate.

Fake mustaches were provided, however, ensuring the wedding guests could conceal their identity, in case of mob hit fears or an untimely blemish.

Also contributing to the success of the photo booth?

An open bar.

And fabulousness.

And love.

As Kelly was my childhood ideal of cool, it only makes sense her wedding was unique and artistic.

I’m fairly confident you can see up my dress in my photo booth pics

So fingers crossed those don’t make the Internet,

Megan

A mustache makes any photo better.

Megan October 25, 2010

Exactly.

Unless it’s a Hitler mustache.

That just makes any photo awkward.

Open bars make for the best photos that no one can remember taking.

Megan October 25, 2010

And that just makes looking back at them all the more fun!

That is THE MOST AWESOME IDEA EVER!

I am so so jealous I didn’t think of anything like that when Himself and I got married last year.

*sigh*

that’s just…just BRILLIANT.

I hate brilliant. They make me feel all inferior.

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

Yes – Kelly is the kind of brilliant that always makes me feel inferior.

It’s just so intimidating.

But hey – nobody else at the wedding embarrassingly exposed themselves.

So see, I’m unique!

(You gotta take what you can get.)

I once went to a wedding where the groom was from Spain. All of these crazy Spaniards kept burning the corks from the wine bottles and drawing the most outrageous mustaches on all of the men at the reception. It was hilarious and my husband looked so funny!

I now have a very, very high expectation of any Spaniard I meet at a wedding – I hope I’m not gonna be disappointed!

Love this latest trend in weddings. So much fun!

OMgosh! This is brilliant…I LOVE IT!! I’d honestly love to see your photos too…maybe edited so your modesty is intact? :)

Megan October 25, 2010

Oh, I would definitely share (as per the rest of my blog, I find it hard not to share every embarrassment with the world!) but sadly they are with the photographer, as it was his camera. Hopefully I’ll get them one day in the future!

That is an awesome idea! So hilarious, and I agree…an open bar definitely would help with that, too :-)

An open bar helps with quite a lot of wedding things!

My friend did the same at her daughters wedding and even had hats and dress ups! It was awesome! The bride and groom also got involved…a wedding to remember! very COOL!

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

I hope it becomes a standard part of weddings – it’s SUCH a great way to remember everybody!

I want to go back in time and have a cool wedding. Celebrations have gotten so much more unique over the years, dancing down the aisle! I feel gypped.

Megan October 25, 2010

I feel the same way about childhood every time I see all the crazy awesome toys they have now!

liz October 22, 2010

What a superbly awesome idea for a wedding! LOVE it. And I still feel bad about your poor dress.

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

Yes, the sadness over my dress does permeate every wedding post. But it’s overshadowed by fake mustaches.

I mean, fake mustaches!

Now that’s awesome.

Aging Mommy October 22, 2010

Your friend Kelly is definitely cool and her wedding is definitely a breath of fresh air.

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

She really, truly, honestly is that cool.

It’s quite intimidating in real life.

WHERE WAS THIS IDEA WHEN I GOT MARRIED TWO YEARS AGO!

Ugh. Best. Idea. Ever.

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

RIGHT?

I love it so much I might be forced to marry it, only then I’m not sure about the rules about making your spouse work the wedding.

Coma Girl October 23, 2010

How creative!! I love it.

Ya think I can do my wedding all over again??

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

Of course!

(I mean, you might have to pretend to fight and hate each other and divorce then fall in love again and choose to re-marry, but that’s a small price to pay, right?)

Life needs more photo booths. And fake mustaches. Definitely more fake mustaches.

Reply

Amber October 24, 2010

That looks like a lot of fun!

Reply

Megan October 25, 2010

It was – I’m totally going to try and steal the idea for my next party!

Photo booths are awesome! Are you thinking what I’m thinking? We need to save our Halloween skirts for our future weddings’ photo booths.
