“Man, nobody is buying stuff off the registry,” Sharon commented while I was helping her pack up her childhood bedroom.
Or maybe it was Dan. They’ve already started to blur together.
“Oh, really?” I responded, feeling my insides clench.
For Skye and I had decided not to use the registry.
Vacuums, blenders, waffle makers – where’s the deep bond of friendship there?
No, obviously only a scrapbook would do.
And considering neither of us is married, it seemed sensible to put together a how-to book on marriage.
A scrapbook how-to on marriage written by two single friends, with the help of married friends and family – now that would have been a great item to see on the registry.
I’m a sucker for a happy ending,
Megan

Love this idea! This is so cute and will mean the world to her for years! When you two are old you can take this out and get a good laugh!
Megan,
I can remember being a new bride and wondering what I was going to do with all of the “crap” I didn’t register for. I would NOT put your gift in this category. What a great idea and I bet she treasures it forever!
Love this!
I LOVE this!!! What a great and personal gift!
I am anti-registry myself
Aw Megan that is so sweet! That is definitely the best gift ever
Very thoughtful gift and wonderful advice for sure. I have forgotten so many of our wedding gifts but I would remember one like this. I do love my waffle maker though…
You are too much! What a great idea.
Favorite answer? Food.
I would honestly give you all the gifts we got from our registry in exchange for that book. It is beautiful and thoughtful and profound.
And I’m guessing you didn’t mean for it to do so, but it’s making me cry. Because real, lasting love is so precious and so rare.
I wish your friends a lifetime of happiness.
That is just the sweetest gift. I love the fact that you got the answers to the questions from (I’m assuming anyway) people in Sharon’s and Dan’s life. Or maybe they are from random couples on the street–that’d be cool too. As a side note, I also really like the background papers. Where did you get them? They’re beautiful!
The supplies (except for the scrapbook itself) are from K&Company’s Poppyseed collection: http://www.eksuccessbrands.com/kandcompany/productlist.htm?bid=550
And yes, the contributors are people meaningful to Sharon and Dan.
What an amazing reference! I loved reading all their answers. Thank you for letting us all peek!
I am sooooo proud of us!!! Thank you for having this amazing idea- and for having a scanner so we still get to look at it after we gave it away!
Love the idea…well done!
What a lovely, lovely gift. Much more useful than a blender.
That gift rocks! Plus, blenders totally go on sale ALL THE TIME. I would have loved a gift like that. One of my favorite wedding gifts is a faux telegram from a friend who couldn’t make the wedding. YOU are a good friend.
Megan that is a wonderful notebook. I know the bride and groom will cherish it forever and look back at the responses and smile, especially if they take the advice of the oldest married couple! PHEW! Did I read June 14th 1949? 61 years has me beat!
What a totally awesome gift. So much better than a toaster.
Wow, this is such a creative, heart filled gift. You rock Megan!
Lovely!
Aw, this is so sweet and very much from the heart!
This is amazing. I really wish someone had done this for me. You’re so awesome.
you and skye are so thoughtful and so creative! and i love that you shared it with us!
That would’ve been my favorite gift, hands down!
You should market the idea…I think people would go crazy for one of these of their own
Thanks for sharing…you done good, kid
What a WONDERFUL wedding present idea!
The Scrapbook is a fantastic idea. Well done.
It was well put together and some good advice in there to. You know, for people who are into the whole “marriage” thing.
OMG, Megan, I so wish I had thought of something like this when I was a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding!! It’s so thoughtful and touching (not to mention quirky and stylish) and absolutely perfect. I may just steal this idea for future occassions
It looks great!
Wow, that’s an awesome present! You did a great job and I’m sure they LOVE it!
Hi, I found your blog at Natalie’s Mommy of a Monster. I love this wedding gift idea! My friend is planning her wedding for March next year. Let’s see if she’d be interested in this idea!
What a great idea! You put a lot of time into that! I hope it was well received!
I absolutely love this gift! Definitely the most personal and thoughtful gift we received, and I’ll cherish it forever!
Also, we already have a toaster.
Stopping by from Mommy of a Monster…this is such an awesome gift! I would rather give – and receive – a heartfelt gift like this a million times over versus any piece of china, or crystal, or waffle iron. What a blessed friendship you have!
I am so glad I found you blog. Every time I visit it I am blown away at your creativity and thoughtful nature. What an amazing gift to give you friend!
Megan that is an amazing idea!! And you did such a great job!!! I hope you don’t mind if I steal it someday.
And I don’t know Sharon but I would say you are totally off the hook for not using the registry! That gift is totally priceless!!!
