Friday afternoon I frantically messaged Lindsey, I forgot to ask, can you bring your camera, please?
Well, maybe, depending on where we decide to go.
I have decided I’m going to take the plunge. I’m going to buy an SLR.
Hold me, I’m scared.
Before spending all of my savings, I thought I would try using Lindsey’s camera and get a feel for what it’s like. (Lindsey has a Nikon D40)
With only a modicum of cajoling, Lindsey was kind enough to lug her camera around with us all weekend. This was actually foreseeable, as Lindsey is one of the nicest of my friends. And most of my friends are pretty nice. The dichotomy draws them into my web of friendship.
When we got to the bar I whipped out Lindsey’s camera and started taking pictures.
Lindsey took this photo while attempting to fix
whatever I had done to her camera.

But have no fear, after a couple (hundred) out of focus/too dark/too bright photos, I started to get the hang of it.

Not to say that these photos are good. I’m not that self delusional.
But if you could see the others, you would understand that these photos are much better.

(Scary huh?)

It wasn’t until I was looking though the photos that I realized that Chris was wearing a Hollister sweater. Chris normal disavows all brand names, so for him this is a sudden reversal.  Since he’s already returned home, if you see him, could you make fun of him for me? Thank you.
What I was trying to do was have a shallow depth of field.
Shallow depth of field, why do you allude me?
Is it because I refuse to use the flash in the dark bar?
One day, I will find you.

Out of the two hundred photos I took in that bar, this one is my favorite. When I showed it to my mom, she said “Wow, Lindsey is the prettiest of all your friends. Seriously, I can’t think of any one else of that entire group who rivals her beauty…you’re second prettiest.” Maybe my photography could use some work, but at least I’ve got some pretty great subjects.
