How do you feel about doctors assisting in the death penalty? Whatever your opinion, after reading Better: A Surgeon’s Notes on Performance you’ll understand the different perspectives. Atul Gawande writes about malpractice and hand washing in hospitals and the fight to eradicate Polio with compassion and intelligence. Even when discussing subjects that would seem to be dry or boring he infuses his writing with excitement.

Through out his entire book I couldn’t tear myself away, and as soon as it ended I slipped parts of it into every conversation. Which has been easy to do, as Gawande’s book has changed my entire medical perspective.

Intriguing. Love your book reviews. I would never have found this, otherwise!

I keep seeing this book whenever I got to Barnes and Noble and I ponder picking it up, because it looks interesting. Maybe I finally will next time!
