From today, June 26, there is exactly a month left to see The Norman Conquests.
Well, what are you waiting for?
5 Reasons to see The Norman Conquests
1. It’s a comedy. It’s hilarious. There are some jokes you will miss because you will be doubled over in your seat, laughing hysterically. And who doesn’t need a little humor now?
2. It’s a trilogy. That means there are three separate plays, detailing a weekend in the British countryside in the 70s, each focusing on a different room. One play shows what’s happening in the dining room, another the kitchen, and yet another in the garden. If you go on the weekends, you can see all three plays in a day. Doing this, you can get all the interlocking jokes, as well as form bonds with the other theatregoers. (My bond was formed with Sara Krulwich, the theatre photographer for the New York Times – If you’re reading this Sara, Hi!) (She’s not reading this.)
3. It’s British. The writer, director, and actors are all British. It is well known that the British redeem their cooking through their humor, and this play is no exception.
4. It can provide awkward celebrity interaction. I’m not going to elaborate on this.
5. It won the Tony. Best Revival of a Play.
6. It might have nudity. Weirdly, I can’t remember. But it does focus quite a bit on sex. So the possibility is there. But maybe not. So, really, only 5 reasons.
