Pearls Before Swine

January 9, 2009

Pearls Before Swine* is my favorite comic. I’ve never been one of those people sucked into the comic universe (well, outside of The Comics Curmudgeon), so I don’t obsessively follow it. Rather, if I am stuck somewhere that has a sub-standard local paper,** Pearls Before Swine is what I search out to read. Unlike Skye, I have not been reading every post from Human Rights in Gaza and Israel during the Hostilities, but I have been reading the headlines.

Thinking about the fighting brings to mind my favorite Pearls Before Swine strip, so I thought I would share it with you.

*Does anyone understand what the name means?  Are the readers suppose to be the swine? Does Pastis fear smiting from sharing his comedic talents with us who are not worthy? Anyone?

**As in a paper that thinks I want to hear about that area’s politics. I do understand why I should care. Local politics has more of an impact on people’s lives than they think. Being informed is very important. Sadly, I still don’t care. If I can’t force myself to read about who Obama thinks would make a great Secretary of the Interior/Head Decorator, I’m definitely not spending my time reading about the election of a small town mayor.
