Lindsey and I went to see Richard III: An Arab Tragedy at the Kennedy Center this past weekend.
The Washington Post review was not that favorable – though I agree with the accolades directed towards Amal Omran as Margaret, the ex-queen. It’s possible I only loved her character because I understood her. Seriously, the rest of the play I was like Skye with a movie twist. WHO was the guy in the suit? Was he American? If so, why did he only speak Arabic, unlike the guy at the American embassy? If not, then how could he control the oil fields in the North? What kept happening during the war scene? Would understanding the original Richard III have helped? Did everyone else feel all awkward inside during the current political references? Anyone?
Still, loved Amal Omran.
