Robby’s Christmas Party is perhaps my most annual of traditions.
Years come and go, people move away and come back, pink santa hats are exchanged for antler ears – and yet the party goes on.
A couple of years ago, we started taking a group picture at the end of the night.
Usually Heather is in charge of such an important task, but somehow this year she hesitated long enough that I was able to insert myself into the process.
(Success!)
But it turns out there might be a reason I’ve never been given charge of the group photo.
Maybe because I don’t own a camera remote.
Or because I happen to fall down a lot while trying to move quickly.
Or maybe it’s just antler discrimination.
(If you haven’t experienced it, maybe you’re the problem.)
(Think about it.)
In short, I’m not sure I’ll be allowed to take the group photos next year.
So we should enjoy these gems while they’re with us.
There is a single photo in which I am not moving.
And despite what it looks like, I didn’t photoshop myself in.
(I don’t have nearly the skill for such a thing.)
(Which you might have already guessed.)
There were a few other group photos
But they were all blurry
‘Cause I don’t believe
In limiting my crappiness at something
To only one area,
Megan
p.s. I’ve decided to follow Elsie’s lead and take/post a photo a day of home for 2013. Since I just moved, I figured this would be a really good way to document my daily life. However, I figured most of you probably don’t care to see my orange balloon animal book end, so I’m posting said photos on Best of Fates’ Facebook page. But if you’re dying to know if my kitchen cabinets have doors (twist: they don’t), you can head on over and see photographic evidence for yourself.
The Awkwardest of Annual Christmas Party Photos

Well, there are some things that are not your fault. Like the lighting. And my face.
Well, at least you’re classy somewhere.
Haha! I had a feeling there would be a post like this
Hilarity!
If I had to be in charge of picture taking, with a timer, I’d really hope that there was a setting so that I could chronicle the fall, as I ran into the picture, in 1/10 second increments.
I love the pictures, especially the fourth one! But good a thing that you did not fall down. Lol!
I love taking pictures, but I don’t do the group shots where I have to be in them. My husband knows more about the camera than I do, so he gets that job duty
But this way, your Christmas photos are memorable! This is a pretty hilarious sequence
I love them all. They’re each a great memory….especially #5
I have a shutter-release cable, but that’s not much help in a situation like this, either. Only about two feet of improvement. Giver or take. Just enough to give you the false hope you might actually make it there and back in time… awful.
Just awesome. And here’s something amazing…no one’s face was covered by the antlers. That takes skillz. See? And you thought you weren’t doing a good job.
That’s true! Though that required getting on my knees which led to the sliding and thus the falling. So, really, it’s all those people behind my antlers fault!
My book club takes a photo every month at our meetings. We have some hilarious outtakes too!
That is such a clever idea – I must find a group meeting to make monthly photos with!
